Captain Tony Broten

Day Shift

The departments local hero. Captain Broten was born and raised in the Harbor and graduated from Montesano High School. Captain Broten started with the department in 1998 when the department was all volunteer then finished Centrals Paramedic program. Captain Broten serves as the departments medical services officer (MSO) and runs the departments health and safety programs. It could be said that a Seahawks loss can ruin his shift and his firefighters hide in fear. But thats just a rumor.

Lieutenant Scott McClaine

A-Shift

Lt. McClaine started his career as a volunteer firefighter in King and Pierce Counties in 2012. He worked as an EMT with Tri-Med Ambulance and AMR and later trained at Tacoma Community College as a Paramedic. He joined GHFD #2 in 2019 as a Firefighter/Paramedic and continued his training and education. Currently, he serves as the A-Shift Officer, managing tasks such as running the ImageTrend reporting program, aiding in volunteer recruitment, organizing PR events, and assisting with grant writing.

Lieutenant James Kuchciak

B-Shift

Lt Kuchciak runs our IT department and started as a volunteer firefighter in 1998 for Mountain View Fire and Rescue. Hired with GHFD #2 in 2007 Lt Kuchciak quickly took to training and serves throughout the region as an instructor and IFSAC evaluator. It’s also not uncommon for the Lieutenant to recieve a new set of bunker gear and completely destroy it between fires and training.

Lieutenant James Sande

C-Shift

Serving as the departments fire investigator and fire code inspector, Lt Sande also runs our public education programs working hand in hand with our local schools, day cares and local businesses. Lt Sande started as a volunteer with the department in 2007 and was hired in 2010 after spending time working as an EMT in Bremerton, firefighter for Grapeview FD and as a Paramedic for Mason County Medic ONE. Oh, Here’s a Fun Fact…… if there is fire house shenanigans going on he’s probably the cause.
